Yulia Cherdantseva
Biography
Yulia Cherdantseva is a Reader in Cyber Security and Information Systems at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, Cardiff University. She is Director of the University’s Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE) and Co-Director of both the Digital Transformation Innovation Institute (DTII) and the Hartree Centre Cardiff Hub. She has been a member of the CyBOK Executive Editorial Board since 2021.
Her research interests include cyber security risk management, modelling of secure business processes, cyber security risk assessment for critical national infrastructure (CNI), decision-making processes in cyber security (particularly for SMEs), and ethical data governance.
She has led numerous research projects, including the SCADA-CSL project (Airbus Group Endeavr Wales and Welsh Government), a RISCS and NCSC funded project on SME cyber decision-making, and an EPSRC funded project to develop a framework for risk-informed, metrics-enriched cyber security playbooks aimed at enhancing the resilience of critical national infrastructure.
Dr Cherdantseva actively contributes to cyber security education and training, leading degree programme development and delivery. She is also engaged in outreach initiatives, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and PhD supervision. She is a strong advocate for equality and diversity in the field, contributing to national efforts to make the field more accessible and inclusive.
